AboutâThe Ballad of Mona Lisaâ tells the story of a man dealing with two moral struggles at once. He has spent the night with a prostitute, and must deal with the guilt that comes with the decision. At the same time, he is trying to determine whether or not he has any morality at us a question about this songAsk a question *What have the artists said about the song?Brendon Urie told OK! Magazine That whole thing with Mona Lisa was the idea that there is this character. For us, you look at the painting, and you canât tell what this person is thinking. Not showing too much emotion, thereâs this Mona Lisa smile masking whatâs going on in that personâs head. The song is about a battle in yourself ⊠an inner struggle in oneself. The duality in nature, where you see yourself as a bad person, and the good person trying to correct your bad habits. Thatâs what it was about. We thought that would be an easy way to describe how we were masking our own emotions and trying to figure out how we can solve the bad choices we make." Urie also told MTV News about how long the beginnings of the song had existed âŠA few of the ideas â like [first single] The Ballad of Mona Lisa,â specifically â was from an idea I had probably four years ago, before we even started touring on Pretty. Odd., and it was just sitting in my laptop collecting figurative dust on my hard drive, not really doing muchâŠ.That ended up being a really good intro to the whole process."How does the music video for this song tie to previous Panic! music videos? The music video, which is set at a funeral, includes the top hat from the video for âI Write Sins Not Tragediesâ. âNine In The Afternoonâ is also referenced, with the main clock in the video set to 900. Drummer Spencer Smith told MTV News When we were talking about the concept, somebody had the idea to kind of tie in to the beginning of the Sinsâ video, and we realized it would work with it," Brendon Urie added It was a nice homage to some of the first stuff that we had done with Shane [Drake, director]. And also, for us, mostly, it was closure."Is there an official live recording of this song?Who produced âThe Ballad of Mona Lisaâ by Panic! at the Disco? When did Panic! at the Disco release âThe Ballad of Mona Lisaâ?Who wrote âThe Ballad of Mona Lisaâ by Panic! at the Disco?10.
